Leah Izzett is the Communications and Events Officer at NCSE. She works as a member of the Communications, Events, and Membership Team supporting the organization across these three program areas. Previously, Leah held the position of special assistant to the executive director at NCSE where she worked closely with the NCSE executive director and assisted in driving all NCSE programs and initiatives forward.
Prior to this work, she gained experience in marine conservation program development and community engagement to protect the natural, cultural, and historic resources within the national marine sanctuary system at the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation. She also provided environmental consulting services at Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. In this role, she managed permitting projects; coordinated with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies; and conducted field research to support her clients’ project development.
Leah received her Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science and policy with a concentration in marine and coastal management and a minor in sustainability studies from the University of Maryland, College Park.
