Elio comes from Latin American Youth Center, a non-profit that focused on serving youth in health, wellness, and educational after-school programming in DC. Elio has 7+ years of experience working in youth development with his prior work included serving as the Youth Programs Coordinator at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History (NMNH). At NMNH, he coordinated the implementation of programs for youth during out-of-school time, program logistics, outreach, partnership development, and participant recruitment focusing on low income, high performing youth. Elio also worked as a Museum technician at the National Museum of Natural History’s Insect Zoo for 3 years, caring for the 50+ species of live arthropods in the permanent exhibit and assisting with the management of volunteers. Elio is a Washington DC native and an alumni of the DC chapter of EnvironMentors in 2001/2002 program year.
