Dr. Alberto Parenti is an official of the Environmental Department of the European Commission. In this capacity, he has coordinated a wide range of sustainable development initiatives on water and waste management; nature conservation; adaptation to climate change; and sustainable consumption and production.
Prior to his work at the European Commission, he was an adviser for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature supporting the implementation of nature conservation programs in South America and Europe. He started his international career in Ethiopia with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization managing a portfolio of sustainable industrial development projects.
Dr. Parenti has an extensive academic background. He holds a Ph.D. in International Economic Law from the Bocconi University in Milan, where he taught International and EU law. Throughout his carrier, he has authored numerous academic publications.
